Social Gallery was initially released in July 2012 and came with out the box support for NextGen 1.9x.
However NextGen have since reworked their whole plugin which has resulting in an overhaul of the guides and this guide covers how to get Social Gallery working with NextGen 2.0+
First up, you need to upload some images to your NextGen galleries
Next you should create a new post or page and insert your gallery
Click the nextgen icon and choose NextGEN Basic Thumbnails
Then tell NextGEN to display your gallery from the first step
Next You need to Customize the display settings
Click Save… and publish your post…
Then you’ll see that clicking on an image creates the Social Gallery Lightbox….
But you can still see the NextGen lightbox behind the Social Gallery lightbox… so you’ll need to disable this manually in version 2.0+ of NextGen (we are updating the plugin to auto disable this if possible – watch this space for an update). To manually disable the NextGen lightbox go to the NextGen settings -> Other Options
Then change the Lightbox setting to “No Lightbox”
Then revisit the page, refresh and the Social Gallery Lightbox will be displaying your images! What could be easier…
IF you have added New Images don’t forget to run an image scan to create your Social Gallery Pages. We will cover Image Scans in more detail in a future guide.
